Dos Santos Open to Jon Jones Fight

Ultimate Fighting Championship or the UFC Heavyweight Champions Junior Dos Santos has just uttered words that will ring like music to the ears of Dana White, the president of the promotion stating that he would love a fight with UFC Light Heavyweight Champion Jon Jones if the situation calls for it.

Dos Santos, one of the purest strikers in the industry at the moment became the UFC Heavyweight Champion via victory over Cain Velasquez at UFC on FOX 1 on the 11th of November last year and he defended the title quite easily against Frank Mir at UFC 146, winning via a Technical Knock Out.

He is expected to face the former champion Velasquez in a match that is being billed as Part II in the epic rivalry of the two at UFC 152 in Toronto, Canada and he is expected to retain the title again. After Velasquez, there are hardly any worthwhile contenders for the UFC Heavyweight Championship, which means that the UFC will have to look elsewhere to find a suitable opponent for Junior Dos Santos.

And with calls for Jon Jones to step up a division to the Heavyweight category getting louder amidst the scarcity of challengers for his UFC Light Heavyweight title, the super match between these two is highly likely.

Jon Jones faces Dan Henderson on the 1st of September and he has admitted at various interviews that come 2013, he might just give a thought about switching weight divisions.
However, the major stumbling block to this super fight between these two champion fighters seems to be Junior Dos Santos, who is like a mentor to Jones and whom Jones himself considers as an elder brother.

However, the UFC would do well to make it a Mentor – Student brawl, thus, raking in a bucket load of cash from the fight.
